Little Boys and a Puppy

Making my first card was SO much fun that I decided to create today instead of cleaning my furry house! LOL I will regret that later but right now I want to share my second card creation using the sketch at Caardvarks.

I used a retired Stampin' Up stamp with, you guessed it, a Puppy! I just loved the Sketches style stamps that SU came out with several years back. A stamp needs to speak to me and this one did!

I used Stampin' Up cardstocks: Basic Black, Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red and Ballet Blue. I tried my hand at the Wax Paper Resist technique using my Cuttlebug distressed wood embossing folder but didn't really love the outcome. Looked more like bamboo than barn wood so I used it as a mat paper for my stamped image. The edges of all papers were inked with the same color ink for a more subtle look. I used Watercolor Wonder crayons and an aquapainter to "paint" my image. I stamped a second image, rough cut it and used it to mask the colored image so I could sponge the sky. I used my scallop circle punch to create the accent on the top but also to create the clouds in the sky. The sentiment says Thinking of you 24-7 365 days and I punched that with the 1 inch circle punch. I paper pierced little holes in each scallop bump and used dimensionals on the sentiment as well as the stamped image to add interest. The last little element used is Dew Drops in the Cowboy color combo.

Well, guess I've put off housework as long as I can! Thanks for visiting and have a great week!
